Camp Mud 2017

Camp Mud offers a great introduction to working with clay for budding potters and clay artists aged 9 to 14. We help develop skills in throwing on the potter’s wheel as well as a variety of hand-building techniques.
The instructor gives a solid grounding in pottery fundamentals. On the wheel, students are taught how to center a mound of clay and later how to throw, trim and glaze their pots. All will learn how to make cups, bowls and other simple forms. With handbuilding, they will explore making functional and decorative objects.
Students should dress in clothes they don’t mind getting dirty, trim their fingernails short, tie back long hair and bring an old towel for wiping their hands.

Weekly Sessions begin June 26
Camp Mud is held Monday through Friday in the morning from
10:00 am to 1:00 pm and in the afternoon from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. A full day option is available. The first week-long sessions begin on June 26; the last sessions begin on July 24.

The fee for each session is $240.00 and includes a charge for clay, materials and firing. There are no classes on July 4th; the fee for that week is $195.00. There is a 10% discount for multiple sessions. The full day fee is $460.00 (including the 10% discount) and covers the lunch break (camper brings a bagged lunch). The full day fee for the July 4th week is $370.00. Full payment is required at registration.
